Amy Winehouse’s dad credits drugs for the footage of her Recovery

Recently, it was found that Amy Winehouse’s father thanked the British newspaper on publishing his daughter’s treatment with regard to her recovery from taking drugs. In January, Amy was found to have moved in a rehab clinic in London. After a video that showed Amy allegedly taking a variety of illegal substances passed in to a British newspaper, “Sun”.

The back-to-back hit maker, Amy Winehouse left the rehab center in the next week. She seemed to be looking much healthier and happy. She then went to wow the audience at the Grammy Awards. She gave a fantastic and an impressive performance via Satellite as she was not granted the visa. Mitch Winehouse, her dad insists that the newspaper did the right thing by harrowing the footage. He thanks the publisher of Sun, newspaper. He adds that the video has helped his daughter. This time Amy herself wanted to get better. However, the Sun, showed a movie on Amy and it really gave a kick to Amy which she needed. The video turned out to be like a blessing to dear Amy and led her to the rehab, says her father. Mitch promises that his daughter would make an appearance at the Brit Awards which is her next goal after Grammy.

The Beatles is an English pop and rock band hailing from Liverpool. The Beatles are John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. They are probably the most commercially triumphant bands of the British bands. In the UK, the band had released more than forty singles, albums and EP’s. The band went on to enjoy massive success in various countries, their record label EMI estimated that they had sold more than one billion records. The Recording Industry Association of America rated them as the best selling act of all time in the US.

The Beatle’s initial music roots were deep-seated in the 50’s rock and roll and home grown skifflish sounds, however they went on to explore a plethora of music genres, everything from Tin Pan Alley to psychedelic rock. The band’s clothes, accessories and statements made them overnight trend setters amongst the urban crowd. Their sensitization towards increasing social awareness allowed them to exert their influence to wide social revolutions of the 1960’s. Shortly after the official split of the group, all the four members released solo albums. Lennon’s “Plastic Ono Band”, McCartney’s “McCartney”, Starr’s “Sentimental Journey” and Harrison’s “All things must pass all” gained critical acclaim.

Ashley Tisdale became the first ever female to debut with two songs on the Billboard Hot 100.The songs “Bop to the Top” and “What I’ve been Looking for” were both duets sung with Lucas Grabel. The star was dubbed as “The Anti-Paris” by TMZ, a compliment of the highest degree to a celebrity. Ashley was recently named among Teen People’s 25 ‘Hottest Stars Under than 25’. She is best known for her role as Maddie, a candy counter clerk at a hotel and the baby sitter for two conniving twin boys in the Disney Channel series: The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”. Ashley shot to fame with the movie “High School Musical”, directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega. The movie premiered in January 2006 and was the highest rated telecast in Disney Channel history.

Ashley was spotted at the age of three in her hometown, Monmouth County, NJ by Bill Perlman. Ashley went on to star in over 100 network commercials before she got the leading role in the Broadway musical, “Les Miserables”. Tisdale also pursues a music career and her debut album,”Headstrong” gained critical acclaim. Ashley recently underwent a rhinoplasty procedure to correct a deviated septum and two small fractures. She claims that it was purely for medical reasons and that she hates cosmetic surgery procedures.

Andrea Berg had already started her singing career as a child when she tried out her performance in carnivals and festivals in small skits. She then performed in a band and also worked backstage during the building stage with the band. As her main profession, Andrea Berg worked as a nurse at an intensive care unit in a hospital oncology. Andrea Berg had started her musical career in 1992 when she recorded her first song with the producer Eugene Romans. Being impressed by her voice the Eugene Romans then released her first debut album called ‘You are Free’. The next album called ‘Feelings’ brought her the commercial breakthrough which was again released by the Romans.

‘Dreams do not Lie’ was her third album that was published in 1997 which was placed at number 71 at Media Control Charts. Her first song in the album ‘Why only dream’ ranked first the some radio station apart from remaining in the charts for 15 weeks. From then on Andrea Berg gave out a number of hit albums and in 2001 she brought came up with 12 most successful songs with the album ‘Best of’. Andrea Berg has also won the German Music ECHO price in the year 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007 in the category German Schlanger.

Alicia Keys or Alicia Augello Cook was born on 25th January 1981 in the neighborhood of Manhattan in the New York City. Alicia’s mother Teresa Augello was a part time actress while her father Craig Cook was a flight attendant. Alicia began playing piano at a very young age of seven and she learned classical music composed by Mozart and Beethoven.

Alicia Keys passed her graduation from the Professional Performing School of Arts in Manhattan at the age of sixteen. Alicia Keys decided to drop the idea of studies and pursue her musical career and so she signed a sample agreement with Jermaine Dupri. She also recorded and co-wrote a song that entitled “Dah Dee Dah” that appeared on the soundtracks of “Men in Black” the 1997 blockbuster. This song was Alicia Keys initial professional recording, but was not released as the single.

Alicia Keys then met Clive Davis who went on to sign her for the Arista Records. She even recorded some of the songs such as Rear View Mirror and Rock wit U that featured on the soundtracks of Shaft and Dr Dolittle 2 respectively to the newly formed Davis J Records. Alicia Keys released Songs in A Mirror which is her debut album in the year 2001.

American Idol

American Idol is an amazing show that's captured the American audience, but this season, the whole franchise is in jeopardy due to a hateful group of people that are deliberately trying to sabotage the competition.

There is a website called "Vote for the Worst" that tries to convince people to vote for the worst singer left in the competition. That person this season is clearly Sanjaya. A sweet 17 year old kid who actually has some talent, but is clearly outclassed by all of the other competitors remaining, as well as the other finalists who have been voted off due to this prank. A guy like Sundance for example, who clearly had potential and a big voice was dispatched while Sanjaya remained.

Those that have already been eliminated aren't the only victims in this. Sanjaya himself, a bright eyed 17 year old is being mocked and ridiculed in the media. It's not his fault, but he will undoubtedly have to live with the embarrassment of being the butt of an ugly joke for the rest of his life. Why do we do this to such a seemingly nice kid? Why do we take pleasure in his failures? What kind of person takes pleasure from such a thing?

It amazes me how silly, foolish, and hateful our society can be. This also happened with the NHL All Star game when a group decided to start a website called, "Vote for Rory." The NHL allowed fans to vote for anyone they wanted to be in the all-star game, and Rory Fitzpatrick, a below average defenseman with one goal, in like, six seasons, became their boy. Disregarding the fact that if they were successful, they'd be robbing a player who earned and deserved a spot, a chance to play in the All-Star game.

How hateful are we? What other explanation can there be aside from liking to watch people fall, mocking people, and destroying something good?

It reminds me of an episode of Sopranos called, "The Happy Wanderer." It was one of my favorite episodes. Anyway, in this particular episode Tony Soprano is explaining that he has hate in his heart and he can't rationalize it, saying, "I see a guy walking down the street, whistling, happy, and I want to break his face in. How sick is that? I should say, good luck to him. I'm happy for you. But instead, I want to break his nose. What are you so happy about!!!"

People in America love American Idol. If you don't, that's your right. Trying to sabotage the show, though, just seems like such a hateful thing to do and I can't imagine that anyone who does that genuinely feels good about it afterwards.

It's a crying shame when a small group of people ruin things for the rest of us. It's a shame because they often get away with it, as they have this season with American Idol and how that site www.voteforrory.com also came close to making a mockery of the NHL All-Star game.

Frankly, it's not all that much different from what terrorists are trying to accomplish. They want to take your liberties and your freedom away from you. They've accomplished a lot, and anyone who's ever been to an airport since 9/11 should understand that.

Terrorists don't want you to be happy. They don't want you to enjoy things and if they can find a way to destroy something you enjoy, they'll try.

Obviously making a comparison between American Idol and terrorism seems absurd, and it is, but it helps illustrate my point. If enough hateful people thought this prank was a good idea and ended up backing the winner, it would destroy the show. Completely destroy it in it's current form. The most likely scenario would be that America would no longer get to choose the winner. Either that, or the show would be cancelled entirely.

I really hope that doesn't happen and Sanjaya is eliminated this evening. I actually really like him and think he's shown a lot of maturity in what has to be a tormenting experience for him. I want this nightmare to be over for him. I have empathy for him because he seems like a good soul. A little naive, but this world would be a much better place if everyone had a heart like his. He doesn't deserve this. I just hope that the "American Idol terrorists" don't hurt him so badly that it hardens his heart and changes him as a person.

There are some amazingly talented singers left in the competition and I think everyone will he happier when the Sanjaya saga is over. At least, everyone except the owner of the website "vote for the worst" and his followers.

Here’s my take on the remaining contestants:

Blake Lewis- I'm a huge fan of reggae and I love his vibe. Very different, and extremely talented. Didn't really like his song choice this week, it was a little boring for me. With it being Gwen Stefani week, I would think he'd have better options with more of a reggae vibe.

Phil Stacey- My wife loves this guy and I think he's great too. His song choice this week was absolutely perfect. Every breath you take is an awesome song and I thought it was perfect for him. Much better than that whole Leanne Rhymes debacle.

Gina Glockson- I was never a big fan but she is growing on me, especially with this weeks performance. She totally nailed it. She needs to stay “rocker” and if she does that she could have a shot.

Haley Scarnato- She is outclassed in every way. She seems like a really nice girl, very attractive, but she doesn't have the voice to match the other contestants. I don't even remember what she sang and that's actually what Simon said, it was a forgettable performance.

Jordin Sparks- She is awesome and spunky. Funny thing is, I thought her song choice was horrific this week. "Hey baby, Hey Baby Hey," seemed more like something Blake Lewis could pull off. I also didn't like the outfit, it was a little weird for me.

Lakisha Jones- She's been slipping recently but should be a safe bet to make the finals. I think she should stick with more soulful songs and should also show off that big voice EVERY week. We've seen her do other things now, so I think she needs to go with what she's best at, belting it out.

Chris Richardson- I actually like this guy, kind of a Justin Timberfake if you will. His voice is a little nasily, but I like his R & B vibe. I don't think he's going to be around too much longer though.

Chris Sligh- Without a doubt, the funniest and wittiest person in the competition. I totally got what the judges were saying this week, he was never following the beat despite a pretty good vocal, IMO. I actually think I.Q. wise, he is the smartest competitor left and it shows with his song choice as well as the way in which he handles the judges criticism.

Sanjaya Malakar- His voice just isn't big enough. He has kind of a Michael Jackson thing going on, but without the power and the "wow" factor. His last couple performances just seemed so weird. They all have actually. I think he'd be better off with ballads and love songs and belt it out when he should.

Melinda Doolittle- Are you kidding me? Back up singer? Please. Melinda is unbelievable. She brings it each and every week. Week to week she puts more emotion into her performances and nails it every time. If she doesn't make the final, well, it would be a travesty. I will say one thing, though, her being "surprised" after each performance when the judges tell her they loved her is starting to become more and more difficult to believe. She HAS to know by now that she's good, and I'm a little suspicious about her "just glad to be here" attitude.

"There's a big change in psychology and that's what they're reacting to," said Robert Shiller, an economics professor at Yale University, who cut out the ad and showed it to his students. The campaign is a true "sign of the times," he said.
Total existing-home sales, including single-family, townhouses, condominiums and co-ops, dipped 1.9 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.2 million units in September from a level of 6.3 million in August. They were 14 percent below the 7.2 million-unit pace in September 2005, the Realtors group said on Oct. 25.
Last month, the Realtors said the median price for a new U.S. home probably will dip 0.2 percent to $240,500 in 2006, the first decline in 15 years. In October, the Mortgage Bankers Association predicted U.S. new home sales will plunge 18 percent this year and mortgage giant Freddie Mac said declining sales will shave a full percentage point off economic growth in the second half of 2006.
"The market is much better than you might hear or read," National Association of Realtors President Thomas M. Stevens said in a statement on the organization's Web site. "Consumers should take advantage of this perfect alignment of low rates and extraordinary inventory."
One theme in the campaign is that the 3.8 million unsold homes offer "the greatest choices in decades." For sellers, that means it would take seven months to close deals on all the existing homes for sale if no others came on the market.
Another claim the ads make is that buying a home gives you a financial boost. "Homeownership is a safe, secure way to long-term wealth," the ads said.

Christina Aguilera's first album in four years features the pop music star feeling her oats on two CDs' worth of classic-sounding love songs. She pays tribute to the jazz, blues, and soul arrangements of the past while giving them her contemporary, flirtatious spin.

The pop princess vamps her way through lyrics like "Sip on my champagne/cause I'm gonna give you a little taste/of the sugar below my waist," on the track "Nasty Naughty Boy." And the song "Candyman" describes a "one-stop shop" that "makes the panties drop." Despite the fact that these lyrics leave little to the imagination, most of the other sexy stuff (and there's tons of it) is relegated to the kind of tease-y double-entendre that won't register with kids too young to understand the innuendo. It's the advantage of going way old skool: the racier stuff is usually handled with more subtlety.

The first disc on this two-CD extravaganza features help from high-powered friends, including DJ Premier, Kwame, Tony Reyes, and Ben H. Allen. The second disc appears to be the "Linda Perry Show" -- on which the celebrity songwriter/producer leads Christina through her paces with artistry and finesse, and delivers a few lovely musical surprises.

The CD insert features an array of sexy, flirty photos of Christina in period costumes, apparently having the time of her life playing dress-up.

Some may wonder whether a double-CD was really necessary. Many of the mixes sound a little drab, and some judicious editing could have made the album feel more focused. But if you're a true-blue fan, Back to Basics provides a lot of Christina to sink your teeth into.

Fans of this album may also enjoy Destiny Fulfilled and the covers on Idol winner Ruben Studdard's Soulful.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline aren't going to let a divorce squabble curb their fun out in public. Both were out on the town Wednesday night, showing off happy, relieved faces.
Spears, who has been photographed at several outings in New York this week, stopped by the Sony Music Studios at 1 a.m. Thursday sporting a black micro-mini dress and what appeared to be a wedding band.

Federline, 28, took the stage at Chicago's House of Blues to announce, "You know who's about to be a free man, right?" His left ring finger was bare.

On Tuesday, Spears, 24, filed for divorce after two years of marriage. Wednesday, Federline filed divorce papers, too. Both want legal custody of their sons, 13-month-old Sean Preston and 8-week-old Jayden James.

As Federline struggles with his musical aspirations — album sales are low and tickets to his shows are being given away — Spears is making clear career moves:

•She has been working in the studio since the Sept. 12 birth of son Jayden James.

•She has announced an album due next year.

•She was photographed Tuesday night ice skating at Rockefeller Center with Larry Rudolph, her former manager and the man responsible for launching the teen sensation's career. They parted ways in 2004, shortly before Spears and Federline were married.

"She's still incredibly young, and her peers from the teen pop days (Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake) have been mostly successful. I've been in a financial slide for a while now and things have been really difficult. I've been patient and worked 100 hours for 20 hours worth of pay. Last weekend I was at rock bottom. This morning at 2 AM I got pissed and started doing what I need to do to get more money. This afternoon the company I worked for gave me four new accounts. Getting angry created ripples that were felt all the way back in New Jersey. I have another company interested in me, four articles with contracts pending for pay and four new accounts on my regular jobs. Pissed is good.

The sneaker is not really an aristocratic shoe. Born out of functionality, it was a shoe of the people, used solely for the purposes of work and athletic play and now is the foremost shoe in the world. This countries athletic shoe market is a formidable industry, bringing in up to 13 Billion dollars worth of revenue every year. Originally sneakers were lauded for their performance ability, and, although sneakers like that still exist, they have become a fashion statement as much as any other shoe.

Youth culture is particularly influential on the sneaker market. From Fast Time at Ridgemont High in 1981 to other movies featuring Keds and Converse in the 1980's and 90's, it is clear that youth drives athletic shoe market. Sneakers have come a very long way in the past one hundred years. There was a time where there was no difference between a left and right shoe and they were used strictly for their functional purposes. Keds were the first sneakers on the market and were produced in 1917. They were followed by Converse and later purchased by Stride Rite Corporation in 1979. Shoes have advanced since then to have lights, pressurized air and to be made out of hemp.

The precursor to the sneaker was probably the "plimsoll", a rubber soled shoes worn in the late 18th century. The first Keds were actually created in 1892 but weren't mass produced until the aforementioned 1917. Sneakers did not become internationally known until 1924, when Adidas was created by a German man named Adi Dassler. Incidentally, Adi's brother started up Puma, another famous sneaker company. For some time afterward, sneakers were only used when playing sports. Kids didn't start to wear them as a fashion until the 1950's and that's when the youth culture and athletic shoe culture started to meld and become almost interdependent.

After the kids came the celebrity endorsements. In 1984 Michael Jordan signed on with Nike to promote Air Jordans. The shoes were best sellers long after Michael Jordan retired from the NBA. Even though the first sneakers were simple constructions, the innovations brought forth recently have sky-rocketed the sneaker price to sometimes well over one hundred dollars a pair. This would have been unthinkable to the creators of Keds, a brand that is currently experiencing issues. This much is clear, sneakers are the cross-over artist of shoes and have become wildly popular with a lot more than just athlete.

Having a child is a monumental life changing experience. Your every thought and action now has new meaning. It should be the glue that holds a relationship together, but sometimes that doesn't happen. Who knows why, but as much as he loved his little angel it wasn't enough to hold the relationship together. The demise of the marriage would have devistation reprocussions down the road. The level of anger that simmered under the surface of his former wife and her family would eventually be transferred to that little angel, and there would be nothing to undo the damage it caused. No matter how much he tried to make up for the end of the "family" she would hold it against him for the rest of his life. It is sad to think that even in the end he could never do anything to make her love and respect him. He used to refer to himself as "the human credit card" it was all she ever really wanted from him. Not his time, not his company, just his cash. I guess that was his punishment. The sadest thing is that because of what she must have been told, she was denied the experience of having know what true unconditional love was. He adored her, constantly forgave her any hurt he felt from her constant criticism and her passive aggression and rejection. He knew when she called, she always needed something, but still he was happy to talk to her.

Alright, newbies, so you think you can pick up a woman at a party, right? Well, you'll be able to if you follow my 12-step program. Kick the Habit!

1. Look the part.If you are interested in a night on the town and you look like a slob, you aren't going to have any luck.Get rid of your jean shorts and your whitey-tighties. Realize that although you don't need to wear a Polo to fit in, you don't want to stand out so much that no one feels comfortable talking to you. 2. Be confident. If you stand in a corner with your buddies talking about how drunk you were/will be/are no one will talk to you. If you are standing far enough from the music to hear yourself think, go ahead and talk to some people you don't know. If you rely on them coming up to you, you will never meet anyone. Conversely, you don't want to seem overly friendly and talk to everyone in the room. Look for women who are also looking to meet people. These types of women will be looking around a lot and not confining themselves to the same people for the entire party. Go talk to them. The worst thing they can do is shoot you down. If you can't take that kind of heat every once in a while, grow a pair. Think Gene Simmons, not Richard Simmons.

3. Once you strike up a conversation with the woman you happen to be talking to, go dance with her. Trust me. I know, dear reader, you hate dancing. I hate dancing. 4. Don't get sloshed. You would think that the more drunk you get, the more funny/witty/sexy you get. The best way to get a woman is to talk to her and show her you aren't a tool and worth getting to know. Unless you are a tool. Then you have bigger problems than I can fix. You will know that you are a tool when you give her your bedroom eyes and say, "Condoms schmondoms, don't you love me baby?" Drink with class. Think Sinatra, not Bad Santa.

5. Be interested in her. You would assume this is self-explanatory, right? If you just want tail for a night, be completely honest about that. But why limit yourself to a one-night stand? If she is interested in you and you in her than you will have something to talk about the next morning. At least you may not have to reintroduce yourself. Think Tom Cruise in "Risky Business," not Luke Wilson in "Old School."

6. Be interesting. Part of the game involves distinguishing yourself from the rest of the pack. Everyone wears a T-shirt. If yours says, "I'm Huge," it may not help you. But if yours says, "It's all fun and games until someone loses a nut," that is something different entirely. So, brush up on your old magic tricks or whatever the hell makes you special and shine. Think David Copperfield not that guy on NPR.

7. Remember her name.

8. Be friendly to her friends.If you are interested in a woman there is no way anything will work in the short or long term if her friends don't like you. If you are in a conversation and everyone seems to be at a loss suddenly, talk about the first thing that comes to your mind. It will probably be better than silence. Think Jerry Seinfeld not Charlie Chaplin. (Except if you can pull off a good sight gag. Women love that)

9. Don't talk about your "size." This will lead women to believe that you have an entirely different sight gag in store for them.

10. Another thing you won't want to talk about is anything that most girls wouldn't understand. The average straight male's positions and beliefs about lesbians, horsepower vs. torque, whether Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame, and the state of the current Cowboys quarterback depth chart are not preferred topics of conversation in mixed company.

11. I'll be honest, I love a good cigar. Sometimes even a bad cigar. But most women don't like cigars or their little brothers, cigarettes. If she isn't smoking, your breath will smell like the dumpster behind the White Spot.

12. If all else fails, steal flowers from the neighbor's garden and give them to her. Double points if you steal from a sorority.

Have you ever wished you could trade that "long-time-no-see, buddy" in for a much cooler "what's up dude"? I know I have ... a lot. I also know that I must not be the only one dropping speech faux pas that I learned from my parental units, so awareness and prevention of this uncoolness is crucial.

I became aware of my habit of dorky discourse just last weekend when I told a new acquaintance I would give her "a jingle" when I arrived a Newcomb. Now, I think that anyone anywhere could pick out my horrendous mistake. I said "jingle." After I flipped my phone shut, I stopped in my tracks and stood aghast, appalled at my mistake. How had this word slipped out of my mouth? Where had it come from? I then realized that my parents could inadvertently ruin my life. I had always thought that I was one to be cool as a cucumber and -- ah, I did it again -- here I was picking up words that came from (*gasp*) the '60s, the '70s or perhaps were even creations of my ancestors!

I can't be the only one to whom this has happened, so I will go through some basic parent-speak words for you so you can catch them. Does that "sound like a plan?"

Please never say "cool beans." I don't know where that phrase originated, and I don't think that it expresses anything particularly poignant. I used to think that it was a neat-o -- noooo, I just dropped a "neat-o" -- way to express my approval, but through the scorn and ridicule of my peers, I have learned otherwise. I actually have an aunt that says "hard cheese" about adverse situations -- but, if I go into that, we would have to take a look at my family's deep and troubling psychological history.

Another phrase that you have to look out for is "gimme five." I have fond memories of playing catch with my dad and being rewarded for a good play by a "gimme five, buddy." Apparently, this expression is out also -- it has been replaced by the fist pound (less friendly, but certainly cooler). Another thing, never say you need some "mullah" or you are going to turn up the "tunes." These two words might be common in your household, but they are not "in" with the University students.

Now, these phrases and words might not always be the wrong thing to say, but let me highlight some situations NEVER to say them in. First, let me say, if your mother has ever called making-out "hanky-panky," DO NOT EVER REPEAT IT. Can you imagine more of a mood killer than, "Hey baby, let's go do some hanky-panky on the couch." At that point, you probably would have already experienced your last hanky-panky.

Also, don't ever say "be there or be square." The fact that you have obviously taken this phrase from your parents labels you as the square -- and, if you know the actual meaning of square (to be un-hip), you have just revealed your un-hipness.

Never try to flirt with someone by calling them a "turkey" or a "silly goose." Sometimes teasing is still used as a technique for flirting (especially for someone like me who prefers the third-grade style to more mature modes). To call someone a turkey is to tease them and say they are silly -- yet that does not mean you should tease someone by calling them a turkey if you want romantic reciprocation. Don't ask how I know this -- just pity me knowing that it is a tested theory.

I am not a good authority on cool things to say, and I would never give up hanging with the fam damnly, so the only cure I have for parent-speak is to censor what comes out of your mouth. If you are worried about your coolness factor, don't let corny phrases your parents use sneak into any conversations and show up in crucial social situations where afterwards you want to hit your forehead and ask yourself, "Am I for real?!" Increased awareness should do the trick. Okey-dokey?

Forgive the members of Ladytron, one of England's foremost connoisseurs of electroclash and soundtrack-ready music for the hours of the night between midnight and sunup, for being surprised to experience a fondness for American cities such as Cleveland and Lawrence, Kan. Both are found at opposite sides of the Heartland and they're largely known for being huggable and kissable with a more straightforward, dirty-bird rock 'n' roll that's been marinated with Pabst-fueled thinking.

The four members, all originally from Liverpool but now scattered, got to those places for the first time on their current tour and found there was a kind of fever for them and their synthesizer-centric moodiness in both places. Keyboard and rhythm box player Daniel Hunt called Lawrence a "bastion" and was braced for a lackluster show in the city "co-owned" by Cavalier basketball superstar LeBron James before "people just came out of the woodwork."

"Everywhere we haven't been before on this tour, we've sold out," Hunt said Monday from Denver. "We can't wait until we get to the West Coast. Southern California's usually the best for us. Everyone seems to have taken very well to us there."

Hunt and the rest of the group vocalists Helen Marnie, Mira Aroyo and fellow keyboardist Reuben Wu just recently learned that those rabid Southern Californians would get to see them in an entirely different light at the end of this month when they play a Halloween show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. The band's never performed a gig on Allhallows Eve and are looking forward to mixing their own figurative black magic with that generally associated with the night itself. They have the luxury of not having to jet off to the next city and they're planning to close the evening with some personally overseen DJ sets.

Music is one aspect of life that sticks by you forever, which is the exact notion that 17-year-old Murrieta residents Jonathan Magdaleno, Tyler Haran along with their 20-year-old pal, Douglas Smith, took into consideration, when they decided to create something that would impact the community.

Turning to their first love ---- music ---- the three young entrepreneurs created EF (Everything Forever) Records.

"EF Records is more of a community than a record label ---- mutual friends with mutual frustrations towards the music industry, and a desire to do the one thing that has been buried by the sound for years ---- have fun, and make everyone enjoy," said Magdaleno, a senior at Murrieta Valley High School. "At the least, we hope that we can make an impact on the local music community, for this is where the home of all musicians lies. Through this, we will show everybody that it is possible to run a record label that requires no money from their artists, and allows complete and total freedom ---- no contracts, no constrictions, able to leave whenever, able to sign with other labels whenever Friendship is more important here than the music itself."

"As for the name EF Records means exactly what it implies ---- everything lasting forever. It is the notion that the same reason in which music was created (self expression, enjoyment, alleviation) will not ever disappear, no matter who is in control of the industry. It is voices like ours that will give the final call. It's also philosophical, but I'm not about to get into existentialism with you here."

With nothing more than a little musical expertise, the three longtime friends came to the conclusion that EF Records was a necessity to the ever-growing community, and, on July 9, 2006 at 1 a.m., decided to put their idea into action.

Nelly Furtado, Nick Lachey's girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo, and Furtado's personal assistant were allegedly involved in a scuffle at Manhattan nightclub the Plumm on Monday night.

A witness told the Post the events that took place between the bouncer and the personal assistant. "He tapped the security guy on the shoulder and said, 'Excuse me.'" The witness added that the bouncer "had a freaking heart attack. Next thing you know, he's got him by his arm and his hair."

I think Shakira could have brought someone on tour with her who has new material. Wyclef is alright, but he was spinning other people's songs and screaming "shakira shakira" over the mic every two minutes until it became an annoyance. Shakira's dancing was great as always but I was very disappointed that she only sang 4 english songs. I know that spanish is her first language but when I saw her in concert back in 2002 she sang her entire laundry service album.
When we were leaving the parking gargage, we were parked on the 3rd level and it took an hour to get out because of how congested it was. To be honest this show was not worth all the money I spent.

As it turns out, Loose incorporates a number of different styles along its journey, but is primarily divided between '80s-influenced electronica and latin-infused pop. This Loose disc is very different from Furtado's previous CDs, a fact immediately evident from track one, the new wave-affected "Afraid." A strong opener, the song is the beginning of a 1-2-3 punch of uptempo, infectious dance floor beats. The second cut, "Maneater," also proves to be incredibly catchy, but the verses and keyboard sound too much like they were plucked from electroclash artist Peaches' tree, and originality is lost. The perfect summer pop song follows, the massive hit "Promiscuous," which features clever interplay between Furtado and Timbaland on their sassy duet. From that point, Loose oscillates between the Miami-affected sounds of R&B, Latino pop, and reggaeton ("Showtime," "Te Busque," and "No Hay Igual" respectively) and the aforementioned '80s vibe ("Glow," "Do It"). Fans will hear Furtado at her vocal best on "Say It Right" and "In God’s Hands"- two of the most lyrically compelling tracks on the disc.

Nelly Furtado unfairly dismissed feminist ideals

I shave my legs. I love men. I am a feminist.
According to Nelly Furtado, one of these things is not like the other.
You can't miss her new single, "Promiscuous." It's everywhere you turn - the radio, the TV, the annoying girl on your floor who won't listen to anything else. No lies, it's a good song, but a far, far cry from the "Like a Bird" songstress we were used to.
Along with the change in musical style is a change in Furtado's attitude; a change that, once again, sends feminists fuming.
In mid-July, Furtado told contactmusic.com that she had turned her back on feminism because she felt it had "brainwashed" her into hating men.
She admitted (as if it were a crime) that she had experimented with women's rights when she first popped on the music scene but since becoming a single mom, she has become man's biggest fan.
"I went through a feminist phase and read a lot of philosophical stuff," she reportedly said. "Some of the male-bashing brainwashed me for a bit, so I stopped. I love men."
I'll be the first to divulge that finding your place in the ideals of feminism is not an easy one. Inner arguments and confusion are sure to arise when going through the contradictory subsets of feminist theory, but it is frustrating that yet another famous woman has generalized the struggle behind the belief. Once again, feminists are clumped into the man-hating, femi-nazi stereotype.
The irony of Furtado's statement lies in the fact that she is a single mom and her lyrics to "Promiscuous" are really a form of feminism in itself.
If feminism had not happened, she would not be a successful single mom. She would still be talented, but poor and ostracized from a society that saw her lifestyle as socially unacceptable. Simply dismissing the efforts of the movement and those who fought to make her success possible is a sign that she just doesn't get it.
Even more obvious is that although she seems to have sold out in the most Jewel-"Intuition" sense of the term, Furtado's lyrics make me see a woman who supports the idea of feminism, but is terrified to admit it because it would ruin her sudden fame.
For example, she sings "You expect me to just let you hit it / But will you still respect me if you get it? / What kind of girl do you take me for? / I'm a big girl, I can handle myself."
Hello? What can get more feminist than that? She asserts her sexuality but makes that silly Mr. Timbaland understand that she will be no sex object.
I understand how some of that "philosophical stuff" she may have read would appear daunting, but as with any movement's literature, it is important to know the background of the individual who wrote it and the circumstance of the time period they wrote it.
It's not as if we all agree with Valerie Solanas' outlandish statement that men only serve "the dubious purpose of reproduction" and each man is simply an "incomplete female, a walking abortion, aborted at the gene stage."
Her SCUM Manifesto is one written after severe sexual abuse. Other feminist theories written before the 19th Amendment contain strong words and overwhelming ideas, but those strong words were needed at the time to make a statement.
So do yourself a favor, Nelly and all of you who generalize the concept of feminism, and take the time to read different theories and ideas and learn that it is about fighting for equality, not destroying all things penis.

I went out early this morning to water my lemon tree. I felt terribly lonely. My lemon tree is a good, faithful friend, full of wisdom and understanding. But there are times when I long for more, times when I would love to hear a human voice.

A voice that cares. Is this foolish? Or selfish? Why should anyone care about me? I am so poor, and have so little to offer. For years now, my life has revolved around my lemon tree. I have no other real interests.

Other than living. Someday, I would like to try that. I used to think I was living, but that was long ago, when I used to think a lot of things. When it turned out that what I was thinking did not have much meaning, I stopped thinking altogether.

Not really, of course. It is hard to stop thinking. Try it sometime. The more you work at it, the louder your thinking becomes, until at last you are consumed by it. And then, without the least bit of warning, it stops. Of its own accord. Silence.

Why is that, I wonder? And the silence is so full. It is full of wordless possibility, tenderness, and grace. It is timeless. By this I mean that within the silence, time does not exist. Nothing waits, ends, or begins.

Все началось в Торонто на конкурсе молодых талантов, где она и встречает своего будущего менеджера, занимавшегося в то время суперпопулярной канадской постановкой “The Philosopher Kings”.
