Nelly Furtado, Nick Lachey's girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo, and Furtado's personal assistant were allegedly involved in a scuffle at Manhattan nightclub the Plumm on Monday night.
A witness told the Post the events that took place between the bouncer and the personal assistant. "He tapped the security guy on the shoulder and said, 'Excuse me.'" The witness added that the bouncer "had a freaking heart attack. Next thing you know, he's got him by his arm and his hair."
We're still waiting for a callback from Furtado's people. We made one of our very underpaid (and by underpaid, I mean not paid at all-and after this incident, rightfully so, I believe) interns make the call to the club to get something for this newspiece. She was extremely nervous. I looked at her and said, "it's just a few club employees, and at most, the club owner that you'll have to talk to-not the President of the United States."
So, she made the call, and it turned out to be about 44 seconds of conversation with the manager. Unbelievable.
She didn't even get the guy to confirm that the incident occurred. Her first mistake was asking if he wanted to comment on the issue, instead of telling him to. Yeah, it may sound pushy, but, that's how you get your story.

She then asked if the bouncer was still employed with the club. He said, "Uh, that I'm not sure of."

Why would you abruptly end an interview when you are the one who called to get information, especially when the interview is just getting good? You're the club owner and you don't know about a major incident that occurred two nights ago, and you're "not sure" if the mystery bouncer is still employed after the incident?
After that very brief "interview," I encouraged her to rethink her journalism career. She wants to be a news anchor. Yeah. Good luck with that.
